to Herpers: mixed success
Herpers, I just finished reviewing all the herp reports that have been coming in from this weekend through last night. Those that were out looking had mixed success last night. I have heard from groups in Monkton and New Haven that had quite a bit of amphibian activity last night. Those that were in the hills and mountains of central Vermont found wet snow and either no activity or very little.
Back on Sunday afternoon when it was warm, a handful of people found Common Gartersnakes and Painted Turtles active in the Lake Champlain Basin and heard choruses of Wood Frogs and scattered individuals and small groups of Spring Peepers calling.
The current forecast shows some promise for amphibian movement on Friday night (currently a small window of time, light rain, but good temperatures) and Sunday night (good temperatures and moisture if the rain begins early enough).
