Note from Jim:

Herpers, I will be joining Jane Lindholm on VPR’s Vermont Edition this Tuesday May 12 from 1 to 2 PM for a Vermont herp discussion.  We usually do this about once a year and it is a lot of fun.  It always helps to have some good questions coming in to stimulate the discussion.  You can either call (1-800-639-2211) during the show or e-mail  (vermontedition@vpr.net) anytime before or during the show.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Also, check out Jeff Salisbury’s photo of a Spotted Salamander egg mass at Niquette Bay State Park in Colchester.  He took it this last week.  You can see the 3/4-formed young embryos very clearly.  The masses also get softer, greener (algae), dustier (sediment), and more droopy as they age.

(Edited to add link to show, after it aired —kir)
